- Rock Hunting in Quartzsite Arizona! (Part 2 of 2) -
Desert Hues Mine was established in 2010 after we discovered a quartz vein in a nearby mountain.
We enjoy collecting pretty rocks laying about on and near our claim-site. We slab and cab the most attractive pieces to reveal the beauty of the quartz, pyrite and chrysocolla matrix . We also purchase and trade rocks and slabs from Gem and Mineral shows to add more variety to our collection.
Also, on occasion we will make ourselves available to guide individuals and small groups (up to 6 people per trip) for a suggested donation of $35 per person or $60. per couple. (By Appointment only.)
Follow us out to BLM land (High clearance 4x4 required) and we will show you where to find some pretty Chrysocolla / Quartz specimens that we have become known for!

Rock Hunting in Quartzsite Arizona! (Part 1 of 2)
(Part 1 of 2)
It is JANUARY in Quartzsite Arizona!
And ANYONE who is into Rock Hounding
and/or Prospecting knows what that means!
If you don't, Well you are about to find out!
If you are smart you make plans to stay at LEAST a week!
If you have an RV you can park just about anywhere nearby on BLM. There are several RV parks too. If you don't have an RV (or tent) there is a Super 8, but you will have to book early because they are the only Motel in town!
If you like hunting for rocks on you own there are
many books that tell you where to go.
If you want a guide your best bet is joining
for $15. per year or $2. a day.......
During the "Snowbird season" they go on Field Trips
once a week but January 22 -26, 2014
during the Pow Wow they go out twice a day!!
We actually prefer to get most of our rough at T-Rocks!
We love their huge viriety! AND they are open year round so even when the "Big Top" comes down we can rely on them to re-stock anything we run out of. They are on Facebook too!
That is where I went today! ..........................
